unfortunately I've discovered I don't have enough space for everything here, so every other universe is under construction for the foreseeable future :(

STORY

91 and 14 touch down here in an attempt to settle into semi-normal lives after leaving their broken home dimensions. Classic Rick and Morty adventures ensue... for a time. After all, no Rick and Morty are complete without their accompaniment of issues and unresolved trauma.
91 is cursed to close himself up for all time; he's never had a bond with a Morty like this before. He can't fathom it, and he outright refuses to process it correctly. Thus, many of his emotional issues get taken out on 14 almost in the way that he assumes they have to. Because what Rick deals with his shit properly? On the flip side, 14 has never had a role model the way 91 has become for him. He's centerfold in his mind, always, his savior, his protector, his partner. So when they can't help but fight, and really fight, 14 runs away, and so does 91.91 convinces himself this is for the better... but is it? He floats aimlessly, looking for fun, seeking other Mortys on the Citadel to use for adventures and errands. It never feels the same as it used to; no Morty is brazen like 14, or listens to him the way 14 does. It's all empty noise, and it becomes more apparent to him that his relationship with 14 was a lot more meaningful than he previously thought. In the meantime, 14 concocts an emotional blackmail scheme to beg 91 back once he's no longer so frustrated, and realizes he still needs him, even if 91 doesn't take care of him the way he should. An aging serum from the Citadel will do the trick. Then he just has to find him.Back on the Citadel, 91 lives out of his car. Not blatantly, for he still owns and uses a portal gun, but he hovers there and nowhere else, hoping to catch sight of an errant 14 one day. Instead he finds a shaggy-haired, tattooed 40 year old Morty staring at him from a ways away, his shirt too small, his eyes knowing. 91 meets him halfway, and the jig is instantly up. They hug. They missed each other. 14 assures him it's not been that long, but he got desperate, and wasn't sure what it would take to drag 91 back home with him. Luckily, there's an easy fix. They visit the Rebuild-a-Morty, break 14's age in two places, and graft its ends back together. It's very painful. They're left with good ol' 14... and 26 of his extra years. Disposals a waste, and he's not paying to store 26 years... so they take it with them.

MORTY "14" SMITH

original dimension: I-973d

Your run of the mill Morty. Save, perhaps, for his enduring mommy issues and considerably-more-anxious attachment style. He's decided to process his trauma by developing a life-ruining crush on Rick, and then letting the older version of himself groom him. What could go wrong?

stand-out features: opal earrings, too-big sweater

  • generally untrusting

  • emotional issues

  • occasionally prone to running away

  • touch-starved

height: 5'1"

14's original dimension, I-973d, was cast into turmoil by his own Rick. He lived an unhappy life with a perpetually unstable, unhappy family; Beth and Jerry were divorced for good and neither were dealing with it particularly well. They had a swapsies custody agreement that meant week-on, week-off visits, and 14 hardly ever got to see his Summer because of how the arrangement shook out. On top of already living in an unstable home, Beth was verbally and physically abusive towards he and Summer both, which only served to drive the wedge further between them.Unfortunately, this behavior was derived directly from her father, who had been nothing but neglectful and dismissive of the entire family the whole time he had contact with them. 14 never went on "adventures", and he was never even considered a sidekick, let alone a partner. Rick left after a while, but when he returned, it was to flush Earth down the toilet with him; the tyrannical Galactic Federation seized the planet and killed Rick, leaving their world worse for wear without a fix.One day, 91 touched down in need of assistance, uncaring about the state of the world, and his first target was a Morty, any Morty. When he suggested to 14 that he needed his help and was taking him on an adventure, 14 jumped at the chance to leave his home dimension behind, Rick or not. It was by chance that they ended up settling down in F-91, for good.

MORTY "26" SMITH

original dimension: Citadel-born

A rarer occurrence, a Morty who has managed to make it past the age of 14. In reality, he's a little bit more like a 14-year-old in a 26-year-old's body. Maybe a 26 year old Morty can be a good set of extra hands, or at least get a job. Or, he could groom himself. That's on the table too.

26 was nothing. And then he was suddenly his own person. The first feeling that belonged to himself was the pang of being incomplete. He was without place, without purpose, without Rick... without 14. His eternal desire. What manifests as creepy romantic and sexual obsession is actually his defective, permanent lack of a self. The only thing he was and has ever been is 40, and all he wants to do is be that again. The need aches and burns inside of him. He's willing to play the long game to achieve his goal.On the one hand, that looks like a carefully manicured plot to secure 14's mutual interest, and more pertinently, his envy. 26 knows 14 better than anyone ever could; he still feels their crush on 91, plain as day. Playing with Rick is a bargaining chip that brings 14 closer to his grasp. In theory, he can love 14 better than 91 can, and he intends to prove that.On the other hand... it's easy to forget about inadequacy and incompleteness when you force yourself to mask it. Adventures are a simple distraction; honest feelings are something else. And beneath all of that is still-buried, genuine love for his family. Repressed trauma, yes, but a home in f-91 where there was none previously. None of that goes away as a result of a permanent vendetta. So maybe the long game goes a little longer than he intends it to. What harm is having a little fun on the way anyway?

RICK "91" SANCHEZ

original dimension: F-8072e

After ruining his and his family's own life, this Rick prides himself on his ability to not need Mortys, unlike those other schmos on the Citadel. Imagine his frustration when he meets a Morty who doesn't need him, either. They can both not need each other together (very, very badly).

associated colors: teal, blue, pink
stand-out features: swept-back hair, sweaters, ankle booties

  • a bit of a diva

  • low energy

  • "not like other Ricks"

  • walled-off

  • demanding

  • heavily self-hating

  • bad attachment issues

height: 5'9"
birthday: January 26, 19xx

Once upon a time, 91 resembled your run of the mill Rick. He had a Morty who he forced on adventures with him, and a family he was warm-at-best about. 91 wasn't too attached to the concept of the whole "family" thing, and he'd made very little effort to fix the bad blood between he and Beth. After all, he had left, on purpose. He wasn't good for Diane, and he wasn't good for Beth. It was better that way. But try as many Ricks may, they still need Mortys. It probably would've been productive to mend his relationship with Beth. That meant fewer obstacles between he and Morty. But he ran out of time; intervention from the Galactic Federation brought a mutating plague to the earth, casting it in the undead, resilient to all of 91's attempts to stop it. In the end, he chose to save himself, and flee his home. He's regretted it every day since. It was harder to stomach the thought of needing Mortys after that, but he really did need them. They're expendable, teachable, perfect tools. Which made it all the more surprising when he visited an errant dimension to discover a dead Rick and a family in turmoil with a Morty begging to be taken away from his home. Within the willing Morty existed also a hardheaded go-getter, though not without his own selection of issues. 14 was unlike any Morty he'd had in the past, and in a way, 91 felt like he'd finally found an equal. Desperate to keep a hold on that feeling, he felt it was time to settle down somewhere else.
